Biography

Deep Insight was formed in early 2002 by childhood friends Jukka (vocals) and Johannes (guitar). They soon found Joachim (drums) and Kaj (bass), cousins to each other, to complete the band.

The first release, Julia EP, was a theme record focused around the life and death of Julia, a character created by Jukka and Johannes on their crazy road trip to Paris in the winter of 2001. It actually gained many good reviews, most of them praising the young band’s promising songwriting and Jukka’s exceptional voice. It also got the band’s name spread around the music industry.

In 2003 big things started to happen for Deep Insight. The band recorded their debut album, Ivory Tower, at Soundtrack Studios in Helsinki, and Kaj was replaced by Miska on bass. Miska instantly gave a whole new meaning to sayings “ripping the bass” and “man uses his instrument like he uses his women”. The album came out in May, and the band started their first ever European tour.

Timing was perfect; Deep Insight’s mix of American rock and emo with Scandinavian influences was received with great enthusiasm among the audience and critics. It was only back home in Finland where the response was more reserved, as it is always with big bands =;). So whatta heck, off to Europe it is, the band thought. Deep Insight soon returned to Germany, The Netherlands, Poland, Sweden and Latvia for summer festivals, and in October, it was time for the third foreign tour, a 5-week European adventure.

The new album "Red Lights, White Lines" was recorded and mixed in June-July 2004 with producers Jens Bogren (Katatonia, Lambretta) and Jonas Olsson (Callisto), who also supervised the pre-production before letting the band enter one of Sweden’s finest studios, Fascination Street (ex-Kuling) in Örebro. Finally, the album was mastered by Thomas Eberger (Bo Kaspers Orkester, Nine, Raised Fist) at Cutting Room in Stockholm, Sweden. And the sound and songs turned out great. Some critics gave it a rating 10/10 some gave it a 3/5. Everyone has an opinion so the guys did not really pay that much of an attention to those. As long as they were good ones…

What else? Joachim decided to move to pastures new after the recording sessions and in came Ville. So the journey continues here. The guys cannot wait for the next gig and that's what Deep Insight is all about, playing live, often and evolving night after night.

Since its birth in 2002 the band has already played 160 live shows in almost 20 countries, also supporting bands likes Lostprophets. With the new album "Red Lights, White Lines" the band has stepped up the ladder. After the album release, Deep Insight made their debut appearance in such exciting countries as Japan, Portugal and UK.

Things were going pretty well and, tour after tour, the time had come to take a breath, but not at all. It was recording time again! The new album was soon ready to be sent on the music scene, with a precise date and name: October, 18 2006 "One minute too late"!

So all could let people imagine about a new tour, and so it happened, but with something different: Miska decided to leave the band and so Jore came in, starting his "Deep Insight" career from a summer festival.

The debut single choosen from the Album is "New Day" that on its second week went straight number 1 on yleX most wanted.
